Aftercare Instructions

I use a 'Tegaderm' style bandage for all tattoo procedures. I have found this to be the most effective way to heal a tattoo post procedure. The style of bandage takes the guess work out of the healing process, allowing your body to do what it does best. It is not recommended to follow any other tattoo healing advice you may recieve from friends or family members that think they know better. Ignore them, listen to me.

1) The bandage should remain on your tattoo for as long as possible, up to 5 days. DO NOT REMOVE IT. You will not be able to reapply it.

2) Remove the bandage in a shower using soap and warm water. This is the least painful and most effective way.

3) Wash your tattoo THOROUGHLY with soap. As long as your soap doesn't have glitter, you'll be fine. All soap is antibacterial. You do not need to purchase special soap for your tattoo.

4) You need to allow your tattoo to air dry for 30 minutes before applying lotion. This is important. Applying lotion before your tattoo has had the chance to fully dry will lead to it becoming over moisturized.

ONLY USE AVEENO DAILY MOISTURIZING LOTION.

Absolutely NO A&D, Vaseline, Tattoo Goo, Lubriderm, etc etc etc etc.

5) Repeat the process 2-3 times per day. You do not need to overly wash or moisturize your new tattoo.

6) Give it time. It takes approximately 6 weeks for your tattoo to fully heal and settle. At that time, if your tattoo needs to be touched up I will be happy to set up an appointment to take care of that.

7) Enjoy your new tattoo!

DISCLAIMER!

Tattooing is a safe practice, however, this does not mean that things cant go totally sideways while your tattoo is healing. That being said, a fresh tattoo is an open wound and is subject to all manner of nasty things you may encounter in your day to day routine. It is your responsibility to care for your investment, and your life. My aftercare guidelines and procedures are the best first defense in infection prevention, but they are by no means fool proof or human proof. Shit happens. If it does, please contact me so I can offer you what guidance I can. I am not a Doctor. If you feel like you need a doctor, go see a damn doctor.
